Feldenkrais®: Improving Function and Awareness in the Workplace

With Patricia Walters O’Reilly, L.M.T.

Open to all.

The Feldenkrais® Method is a revolutionary approach for human improvement, internationally acclaimed for its remarkable ability to access the power of the nervous system to change the body and restore health. The Feldenkrais® Method uses learning, movement and sensing to free us from habitual patterns and allow for new patterns of thinking, moving and feeling to emerge.

In this course, the practitioners will begin to sense and become aware of their own unique patterns of movement in the workplace. They will come to identify useful, efficient patterns as well as “parasitic” patterns that deplete strength and can lead to repetitive stress injuries. In the provided Awareness Through Movement® lessons, students will have an opportunity to learn new, more efficient ways to function. They will also begin to sense patterns in the movement of their clients and use this knowledge to provide an improved, more functional design in their program.

Facial Rejuvenation with Acupuncture and Chinese Herbs Certification Workshop

With Virginia Doran, L.Ac., M.Ac., L.M.T.

Open to licensed or certified acupuncturists.

Ancient cultures have always known that beauty comes from the inside. Common sense would tell us that treating the underlying causes of aging is preferable to masking the symptoms and allowing further decay and dysfunction to continue within the body. With this highly effective method of Facial Rejuvenation Acupuncture, one can simultaneously enhance a person's appearance and overall health. This unique course trains practitioners to customize a facial rejuvenation treatment by utilizing an Oriental medical approach. Students learn how to assess which meridians are involved in the various ways that the body manifests the aging process. Point selection and needling techniques are taught for conditions such as acne, dry skin, sagging skin, wrinkles, scars and double chins, as well as for bags and dark circles under the eyes. Chinese herbal patent formulas are also taught to specifically augment this kind of acupuncture treatment and these conditions.

Manifestations of Shen and Its Treatment

With Jeffrey Yuen, Dipl. C.H. (NCCAOM)

Open to licensed or certified acupuncturists.

The concept of Shen in Chinese Medicine has always been elusive. Yet Shen is the single factor that is the root of all diseases and conditions of life. Shen and its dynamics are rarely taught within the curriculum of TCM, creating a missing link for students and clinicians to grasp the essence of Chinese medicine. Often inadequately translated as spirit, purpose, mind, Dao, etc., yet the concept of Shen extends beyond alchemy, religion, philosophy, mysticism, and self-cultivation.
