Student ActivitiesThe Massage Therapy Program offers its students ongoing support for academics, hands-on practice of techniques and professional development. Academic SupportThe faculty and staff in the Massage Therapy Program want to see students succeed. When any difficulties are experienced, students can go to an academic advisor or to the Director of Academic Support Services. In addition to discussing students' experiences, the Director of Academic Support Services can help students identify their individual learning styles, create strategies for studying, and deal with test anxiety. (For further information on learning styles, see the school newsletter, Sinews, Vol. 2, No. 1, page 3.) Workshops on these topics are held throughout the semester, with times and dates posted on the student bulletin boards. Peer TutoringTutoring by students who have exhibited proficiency in a subject can be another way to improve learning. Peer tutoring can be arranged through the Director of Academic Support Services. ContactJill Thompson, Director of Academic Support Services, is at 212.924.5900 ext. 133. Her office is on the sixth floor. Peer Support GroupAn e-mail network of peer support for students in the Massage Therapy Program has been set up as a convenient way to reach out and share experiences. Current students can join the group by contacting the group administrator in the Information Technology Department at swedins_student@yahoo.com. Practice SessionsStudents can practice hands-on techniques in supervised settings. Both Western and Eastern techniques are offered. Times and dates for Practice Sessions are posted on the bulletin boards. Practice sessions in Qi Gong with Charles Pegg are held every Monday at 12:30PM and 5:15PM. See bulletin boards for room.
