Admissions

The Acupuncture Program at the Swedish Institute was founded in 1996 under the guidance of Jeffrey C. Yuen, Dean for Academic Affairs.

The course of study leads to a Bachelor of Professional Studies/Master of Science in Acupuncture degree. Classes are held  mostly during evening hours.

Applications

The Acupuncture Program enrolls full-time students every  September. Prospective students can download an application, request one via e-mail or phone an Admissions Advisor. Details about requirements and the application process can be found in our current catalog. Most of our students are eligible for some kind of financial aid.

Applications for September 2008 are due by July 10, 2008.

Curriculum

The Acupuncture Program curriculum is rooted in the spirit, philosophy and practice of Classical Chinese Acupuncture. Classical Chinese Acupuncture is a collective term that pertains to the various traditions stemming from Taoist roots, governed by the principles outlined in the ancient texts of Chinese medicine. The curriculum provides a strong foundation in the philosophical, psychological and clinical aspects of this timeless healing art. Details can be found in our catalog.

Students begin clinical training after their second semester, working in the school's Yu Wen Clinic, as well as in offsite clinics such as September Space. They have the opportunity to utilize their knowledge of a variety of acupuncture traditions to treat patients with a wide range of needs.

Completing the Program

Graduates of the Acupuncture Program are eligible to take the examinations of the National Certification Commission of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM). Our Alumni Services Department is available to them throughout their professional careers, including an online referral service. Read about this growing profession and how some of our graduates are making a life.
