Mr. Hon is an expert in medical Qi Gong, Taiji Quan and classical Chinese medicine. He is the founder of the New York Dan Tao Center and author of Taoist Qigong for Health and Vitality. We were honored to have Mr. Hon give this presentation, which was a preview for a class he taught through our Professional Continuing Education Department.
Creating the 'Healing Place': Integrative Care, Acupuncture and AIDS Elaine Retholtz, L.Ac., joined us for a discussion on "Creating the 'Healing Place': Integrative Care, Acupuncture and AIDS" on March 14, 2005. Retholtz is coordinator of Complementary Care Services at Rivington House Health Care, a 216-bed residential facility for people living with AIDS. In January 2005, Rivington House opened the Healing Place, a new unit offering integrative care, including acupuncture. Retholtz discussed her experience of bringing acupuncture into this new unit and what it is like to interface with medical services offered within an established health care facility. Retholtz is a graduate of the acupuncture program at Tri-State College of Acupuncture and has a Master of Science degree in Nutrition from the University of Wisconsin. She recently completed an internship in Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction from the Center for Mindfulness at the University of Massachusetts in Worchester.
